Trade Point Kathmandu is a ‘One-Stop Shop’ hosted jointly by Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). It serves SMEs as a Trade Information and Trade Facilitation Center to promote their business globally. In fact, it is a point of access to Global Information Networks.
World Trade Point Federation is an international organization that finds its origins in the former Trade Point Program that was launched by UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) in 1992. It aims to support SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in particular in developing countries to promote their business internationally through the efficient use of advanced information technology and trade-related services. It helps reduce transaction cost substantially by using electronic commerce. This concept has been introduced here in Nepal in the form of Trade Point Kathmandu with the support of His Majesty's Government of Nepal, World Trade Point Federation and UNCTAD. World Trade Point Federation has a network of 121 Trade Points in 80 countries. Trade Point Kathmandu is one of them.
The ultimate beneficiaries of World Trade Point Federation are the local trading communities at large, in particular SMEs from developing countries and countries with economies in transition. Through the Trade Points, they gain direct access to reliable and up-to-date trade-related information and get hands-on experience in dealing with trading partners in all parts of the world using electronic commerce technologies. In addition, the participation in the Federation enables them to identify markets for their products, find trading partners and complete transactions faster and at a lower cost than before. It also helps them to make use of new technologies and techniques in the daily course of their business, and ultimately to become more competitive in international market.
The web site of World Trade Point Federation (www.wtpfed.org) provides a secure and user-friendly environment for online access to reliable and comprehensive trade-related information. It has been specifically conceived to meet the needs of small- and medium enterprises. The information posted on the web site of the Federation is available free of charge.
The web site is intended to make it easier for companies to conduct business. It enables you to research trade information in every corner of the globe and helps to locate potential business partners around the world. The web site also provides the information needed for analyzing the business environment and requirements in markets worldwide, and a tool to exchange ideas and to gain access to technical expertise.
